“Right place, right time” is something Two Degrees are quite familiar with. The Irish pair from Northern Ireland formed in January 2018 despite just meeting a few weeks before. Within the first 18 months, they have performed in New York, the United Kingdom, and Ireland, including a performance at The 3 Arena in Dublin.
Two Degrees – Matthew Mullin (25) and Jordan Shivers (24) – quickly grew their fanbase with their unique sound and unrivaled energy at their live shows after inheriting a love of classical rock (the likes of Fleetwood Mac and Bob Dylan) from their parents and combining it with a love of current singer-songwriters (most notably Ed Sheeran and Foy Vance).
A stroke of fate led to a meeting with Roxborough Studios, and their debut single was published in early 2019, surpassing 100,000 streams in less than two months. This marked the beginning of a new phase of worldwide touring, with gigs in Liverpool, Spain, and, most often, New York. After a year and three more songs, the pair was forced to call it quits owing to the ongoing epidemic.
In retrospect, the hiatus came at the perfect moment for Two Degrees, as they began work on their first E.P., which was released on May 21, 2021, with their hit song ‘Concrete Pillow’ earning critical praise and further boosting their status on the Irish music industry.
